Love the look of open concepts, but hate the echo traveling through the foyer...?
I've heard of noise reduction panels, but can't seem to find any on line that are also decorative enough. A lot of sites don't list prices either, so if anyone knows what price range I'm looking at would help.
More details of the problem: A conversation can be heard from the first floor to the second floor. I'm assuming it's going through the foyer like the horn in that Ricola commercial. The two sides of the foyer walls that I'd like to soundproof are probably 15 ft. high (not including the doorways that lead off of it) I do have hardwood flooring with a runner going up the stairs and in the landing area. I have 3 (cheap) canvas paintings plus another runner in the hall that leads to the kitchen. That helped, but not enough.
search for 'decorative sound proofing'. Also just call the sites up. Most decorating site I have dealt with are more than happy to quote rough estimates. If you are worried about a sales pitch; don't be. I have yet to find a salesperson who doesn't stop his sale pitch once he hears a dialtone.
