I can promise you guys are going to have an awesome time!! I live in Vancouver, BC--but find myself in Vegas at least twice a month for various things...not important.

I completley disagree with a few of these posts, firstly, Las Vegas is a very fun destination for people of ALL ages.

The three hotels you picked are very kid-friendly, though not my first choices, I'm sure you will have a great time.

Excalibur:
-offers three different motion rides
-very fun and appealing look to most children
-featuring a Krispy Kreme, and a video arcade...

Circus Circus:
-this is not my favourite hotel, but obviously their attraction is the indoor theme park. You can check their website online, for a virtual tour. The rides are fun, but will probably only amuse you for a day. Keep in mind, that even if you stay at another hotel, you can always work the theme park into one of your day plans

NYNY:
This is my favourite out of the three you selected.
-the red roller coaster is defiantly fun to ride!!
-they also have a pretty big arcade, you win tickets, and redeem goofy prizes

From my perspective, NYNY is not only the best hotel (in general) it is also in a very nice location. Close enough to other big attractions I'm sure you and your family are going to want to check out.

Things to Hit Up:
-the free lion exhibit at the MGM Grand (across the street from NYNY)
-the M&M Shop/Coca Cola Shop, not only do they offer some awesome photo ops, underground features an amazing arcade, with a few of the more interactive, motion rides created by mr. speilberg.
-the luxor is worth a trip, make sure you check out the criss angel mindfreak store, as well as the believe show!
-the bellagio fountains are a free exhibit that will offer fun for the entire family. They start coming on frequently after 7pm (try getting a reservation a "mon ami gabi", a desert and pastry cafe at the Paris hotel, across the street. That way you will have an un-obstructed view of the fountains.
-While you're at Paris, why not take a ride up the Eifel Tower? I've been up it a lot, and my opinion is the attraction is best viewd at night, when the lights of the strip are shining brightly!!
-The Forum shops at Caesars Palace are worth a trip, even if you're not up to a big shopping spree, the mall itself is pretty cool, featuring a light show, the statues come alive and the lasers are set up to impress
-the miracle mile shops are also fun, just a treat for the eyes!
-don't forget madame tussads wax museum at the Venetian. $15 gets you in, and you can touch all the statues, and take pictures with your favourite celebs.
-While you're at the Venetian, make sure you take a gondola ride, either inside or out...
-Across the stree there is the famous treasure island show, since you have an 11 yr old travelling with you, be warned the show has changed in the last year, beware of girls in bras and thongs...
-the secret garden at the Mirage is fun, but keep in mind, the lions featured at nocturnal, and will be asleep when the attraction is open. The dolphins do not have any shows, but if you're lucky you'll catch a training session.
-the mirage also has a free exhibit, the newly renovated volcano at the front of the hotel, erupts regularly...don't stand too close, that fire is HOT!!

As for food:
Every hotel will feature buffets (most have multiple in fact), to keep cost down, do something low key for breakfast. If you go to a buffet, you'll end p spending about $20/person, and you'll be weighed down during you're entire day.

It's always fun topick a restaurant, and let that serve as a daily attraction as well. Vegas has some of the most amazing restaurants...

My favourite:
-American Company Bistro at the Luxor, Nicky Hiltons restaurant
-AquaKnox at the Ventian, if you're into Seafood
and Social House at Treasure Island

Make sure you have a great time! Make everything count, because I promise you're first time to vegas will stick with you for the rest of your life!!

Try and take in a show if you can. Before you do, go to the Fashion Show Mall, those booths setup to annoy tourists, visit one, to receive two for one cirque du soleil tickets...

Shows you can't miss:
-Mystere at TI
-"O" at the Venetian
-"Believe" at the Luxor
-"love" at the Mirage

Shows to Skip:
-Phantom at the Opera is not worth the price imo
-Ka is the only Cirque show I'm not a huge fan of
-zumanity is the only Cirque show you will not be admitted to, it's an almost 'naked' show

Don't forget to get a picture in front of the infamous Las vegas sign...The Hard Rock Hotel is a full attraction in and of itself...go get yourself from wings!

Tell your Mom to hit up the Outlets, off the strip, defiantly worth the cab ride...

If you're trying to save money, visit the front desk of your hotel to buy a monorail pass. Every hotel on the strip is connected the the rail, and it's a fun way to get around town!!

Viva Las Vegas!!
