New York City: Ameritania Hotel: "Don't be fooled by the pictures. Horrible hotel!"

"Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. The staff at the front desk are friendly but not well put together. I checked into the first room to find it very, very small and a crack in my shower door. Upon moving to another room, I found pink mold on the shower door and the drywall around the plumbing was coming off the wall. I gave one more room a try and to my horror found a live cockroach in my bathroom. That was it! I notified the manager that I was moving hotels and he showed no remorse only to say that the exterminator comes in every month so he was not sure why there was a cockroach in the room. This hotel may be a cheap option and look modern from the pictures, but if you want a clean room do not stay here. I also want to note that the hallways are very dark and dingy. Not a very safe feeling for a woman."
