If you're looking for hotels near Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, you can find several wonderful choices right in the Fenway neighborhood. They range from simple and affordable to luxurious and pricey. I'm going to tell you about two of the best: an inexpensive but comfortable hotel with a view (from some rooms) of the Park, and a luxury hotel that ranks among Boston's finest. Both are places where you may want to stay whenever you're in Boston, whether or not you're in town to see the Red Sox play.
Hotel Buckminster (645 Beacon Street, Fenway, Boston) may be your top choice if you're looking for a hotel that's as close as possible to the ball park plus an equally short walk from all of the surrounding restaurants and bars near Fenway. It's also one of the most affordable hotels in the entire city. Built in 1897, Hotel Buckminster is a traditional "flat-iron," or triangular shaped building with an attractive rounded front. Famed architect Stanford White designed it to be one of the first hotels in Boston.Â
Although the lobby may remind you a bit of your college dorm, the Buckminster's reception staff is friendly, welcoming. and helpful. With only 70 rooms and 24 suites, the hotel is small and homey. Rooms are comfortable and simply furnished. Best of all, you can see Fenway's Green Monster from some of the rooms at the back. And no wonder - the Park is only a block and a half away!  You'll find several casual restaurants on Beacon Street within a block of the Hotel Buckminster, and a popular karaoke-sushi spot is next door.
Hotel Commonwealth (500 Commonwealth Ave) is at the opposite end of the spectrum. With 150 spacious rooms overlooking either Fenway Park or leafy park-like Commonwealth Avenue Mall, it's one of the city's top luxury hotels. You'll find every luxurious touch imaginable in the Hotel Commonwealth...high quality imported linens, down comforters and pillows,  high definition TVs, CD/DVD players, complementary high-speed internet access and VOIP, plus a DVD lending library.Â
Even your dog will be welcome at this pet-friend hotel. If you're in town for a Red Sox game, Fenway Park is only 2 short blocks away. One of the Fenway neighborhood's top seafood restaurants, Great Bay, is located right in the hotel, and you'll find other excellent choices nearby.Â
Both the Hotel Buckminster and Hotel Commonwealth are near Boston University, some of the city's best museums and concert halls, and the Colleges of the Fens. Shopping along swanky Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood is just a few blocks away.  Downtown Boston, Beacon Hill, and the historic Freedom Trail are also within walking distance, but with a subway, or "T" as it's called in Boston, stop nearby, you can easily ride to other parts of the city. Whether you choose the affordable Buckminster or the luxurious Commonwealth, both of these popular hotels near Fenway Park are ideally located near many of Boston's most interesting areas.

Does anyone know if there is a central contact source for left luggage in a yellow cab in New York?
My daughter left a sleeping bag behind in a yellow cab October 2nd '06 in New York having just crossed the States with Trek America and jumped in a cab with two friends outside The Beacon Hotel to go to a cheap hostel. her friend thought she'd emptied the trunk but left the Karrrimor sleeping bag behind accidentally. Is there a central source to contact for left luggage in this kind of circumstance? Or does anyone know of an online contact board for yellow cab drivers in New York
NYC yellow cabs are run by several independent operators. There is no central place for lost and found. You could try calling all of the yellow cab companies, but I really doubt that it will still be there. Most likely, someone else has already taken it or its been thrown out. You should just get a new sleeping bag.
