plug 220v power adapter to 110v?

I have a Sony bluetooth headphone that has a power adapter that says AC220V 50Hz 5W with output of DC3V and 1A. But I want to know if it's safe to plug into 110V. Sony is weird about the labeling since the PS3 I bought from Hong Kong says 220V but actually works fine in 110V in the States. So if its the same case I might be able to use this power adapter instead of buying a new one. (I checked the UK version of the exact same adapter and it supports 100v-230v)

So my question is that, whats the worse could happen if this adapter doesnt support 110v and I plugged it in the wall? Or is there a way to tell if it support 110v without plugging it into the wall like using a voltage meter or something? Sorry I have very limited knowledge about electrical stuff. Thanks!

I'd be concerned if you were trying to plug a 110v adapter into a 220v socket, but you're talking the opposite. The worst that will happen is that insufficient voltage will not operate the equipment.

If you have a voltmeter, you can check the voltage output. What you expect to see is 3vdc when the input is 220v. So, at worst, with 110v, you'd see an output of 1.5vdc. If you see 3vdc, anyway, then it works for both input voltages. (The 1A rating is the maximum safe current that it can handle, which is determined by the device, not the adapter.)
