TSA Hardside Luggage Searches?
I am heading to the US in September, travelling with a Samsonite TSA approved hardside suitcase. I've heard that when searched the locks are often cut off, but does anyone know what they do with a hardside case locked with its inbuilt combination lock? I've heard that zipped cases can have the zips forced, but you wouldn't be able to do that with mine. Or does anyone have any experience travelling to the US with a hardside?
The other poster is right. There's a master "key" that lets them into the suitcase. I don't think you have much to worry about, though. I've never had my locks pried when flying into the US (as recently as a couple of months ago). There's nothing to worry about with your suitcase if they need to get inside.
